Since 1896, the winner of Ohio was elected the next president with only two exceptions (in 1944 and 1960). Ohio’s bellwether status continues in 2016 with the state’s 18 electoral votes up for grabs. Polling shows a close race with Donald Trump currently a slight favorite.
